Privacy Policy

Zero Dawn Security (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals and handling personal information responsibly and transparently. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information in connection with our website, products, and services, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).


1) Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to personal information we handle about:

  • visitors to our website
  • customers and prospective customers
  • suppliers and subcontractors
  • job applicants
  • anyone who contacts us or whose information we receive in the course of providing our services


2) What personal information we collect

The types of personal information we may collect include:

  • Identity and contact details: name, email address, phone number, business name, job title
  • Service and site details: service addresses, site notes, access requirements, installation/service history
  • Account and billing details: invoices, payment status, transaction references (note: we generally do not store full card details)
  • Communications: enquiry details, emails, call notes, support requests, feedback
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and website usage data (via cookies/analytics)
  • Recruitment information (if applicable): resume/CV, employment history, references, licence/security clearance details you provide

CCTV / access control and recorded information

Where we install, configure, or support security systems, we may incidentally handle information such as footage, images, access logs, or alarm events. In many cases, this information is collected and controlled by our customer (the site owner/operator) and we act as a service provider handling it on their instructions.


3) How we collect personal information

We may collect personal information:

  • when you submit a form on our website (e.g., contact/quote requests)
  • when you contact us by phone, email, or other channels
  • when you engage us to deliver services (including site visits and commissioning)
  • when you interact with our online systems (cookies, analytics, and similar technologies)
  • from third parties where reasonable and expected (e.g., your authorised representative, subcontractors supporting delivery, or suppliers involved in fulfilment)

If we receive personal information we didn’t ask for, we will handle it in accordance with the Privacy Act.


4) Why we collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information

We collect and use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and provide quotes
  • deliver, manage, and support our services and solutions
  • schedule jobs, perform onsite works, and maintain service history
  • issue invoices, process payments, and manage accounts
  • improve our website, customer experience, and operational performance
  • manage supplier/subcontractor relationships and logistics
  • comply with legal obligations and manage risk (including safety, insurance, and dispute resolution)

We generally only use or disclose personal information for the purpose it was collected (or a related purpose you would reasonably expect), unless required or authorised by law.


5) Who we disclose personal information to

We may disclose personal information to:

  • our staff and authorised contractors who need it to perform their duties
  • service partners and subcontractors involved in installation, servicing, or support
  • suppliers and logistics providers to source and deliver equipment
  • IT and business service providers (e.g., website hosting, email, CRM/ticketing, accounting, backups)
  • payment processors (to take payments securely)
  • professional advisers (e.g., lawyers, accountants, insurers)
  • government, regulators, or law enforcement where required or authorised by law

We take reasonable steps to ensure third parties handle information appropriately.


6) Overseas disclosure

Some third-party systems we use (such as cloud hosting, email, analytics, or support tools) may store or process data outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle personal information in a manner consistent with the APPs.


7) Cookies and website analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • operate and secure the website
  • understand website traffic and usage patterns
  • improve content and performance

You can generally control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect parts of the site.


8) Direct marketing

We may send relevant updates about our services where permitted by law. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe option (where available) or by contacting us.


9) Data security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. This may include access controls, staff training, secure storage, and supplier due diligence.

We retain personal information only for as long as needed for business operations, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and record keeping, after which we take reasonable steps to de-identify or destroy it.

Data breaches

If we become aware of a data breach involving personal information that is likely to result in serious harm, we will act in line with Australia’s Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme, which may include notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).


10) Accessing and correcting your personal information

You may request access to personal information we hold about you and request corrections if you believe it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading. We may need to verify your identity before processing requests.

In some circumstances, we may refuse access where permitted by law. If so, we will explain why (where reasonable) and outline how you can complain.


11) Complaints

If you have a privacy complaint or believe we have breached the APPs, please contact us using the details below with enough information for us to investigate.

We will:

  • acknowledge your complaint within a reasonable timeframe
  • investigate and respond as soon as practicable
  • outline the outcome and any remediation steps

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). (We can provide OAIC contact details on request.) An APP privacy policy must explain how individuals can complain and how the complaint will be handled.


12) Automated decision-making

We do not currently use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects for individuals using personal information. If this changes, we will update this policy accordingly (including any additional disclosures required by law).


13) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, technology, or legal requirements. The updated version will apply from the effective date shown above.
